Mainstream and Special Schools parent groups
There is a Mainstream Schools parent group and Special Schools parent group. Parent council representatives from these groups get together to discuss common issues and have their views heard.
Each group meets four times a year. Agendas and papers are sent out one week before the meeting.

The Mainstream Schools parent group
The Mainstream Schools parent group is for Parent Council Chairs and one other member of the parent council. The group is chaired by the Head of Education with a remit for parental engagement across the city.
A head teacher representative from each locality in the city also attends the meeting and meetings are recorded and followed up with a note to take actions forward. The last meeting was on 10 December 2024.

Special Schools parent group
The Special Schools parent group is for the Parent Council Chair of each special school. This group is Chaired by the Head of Education with a responsibility for Special School provision across the city.
A headteacher from one of the ten specials schools in the city also attends the meeting and meetings notes are circulated to attendees afterwards. The last meeting was on 11 December 2024.
